Unfortunate
circumstances mean that the Doodson Motorsport British Superbike team
have been forced to miss this weekend’s event at Cadwell Park, and are
already focusing their efforts on the following round at Donington Park.
With
regular rider and team owner Tom Tunstall still recuperating from a
broken pelvis, Australian Superbike Champion Glenn Allerton was drafted
into the team. Despite the reduced track time and a weekend of firsts
the last time out at Brands Hatch, Allerton impressed and narrowly
missed out on scoring a BSB Evo podium at his first attempt.
Having
successfully completed a test at Cadwell park only days after Brands,
the 30year old Aussie headed back to the southern hemisphere for round
six of the Australian Superbike series, where he increased his
championship lead up to 67points with just two rounds
remaining.
However
as he prepared to head back to the UK, he was taken down with a serious
stomach infection, his family also succumbing to the illness, with his
daughter requiring hospital
treatment - leaving the Sydney based rider unable to make the journey back to Britain.
Tunstall explained:
“It's
very disappointing not to be at Cadwell this weekend, it’s an
unfortunate set of circumstances with Glenn being sick and so far away.
We looked into the possibility of running another rider but with such a
tight timescale we decided to focus on Donington”.
“The plan is for Glenn to continue on the bike and I’m confident he will show his obvious speed and claim some positive results for the Doodson Motorsport team in the final three rounds of the season”
The Donington Park event takes place on the weekend of 9th-11th of September.
